How do I find underpriced cards on eBay?

Know what the card really sells for first, then compare each listing's price plus shipping against that value, and only count a listing as a deal once you are sure it is the same card, printing and condition. A listing that looks far too cheap is usually a fake, a different printing or a damaged copy. In Bull Run, Deal Finder searches live eBay listings for a card, pack or box and labels each one from Great Deal to Overpriced against its market value.

Start with what the card is actually worth

A listing is only cheap compared with something. Look up the card's recent market price for the exact printing and condition you want. A Holofoil and a plain copy can share a name, set and number but sell for very different amounts, and played copies are usually worth less than Near Mint.

Compare the total, not the sticker price

Always add shipping. A card listed a little lower with high shipping can cost more than one listed higher with free shipping. Judge listings by price plus shipping, which is what you will actually pay.

Check the listing really is that card

  • Collector number: look for it in the title or the photos. Without it, several printings could fit.
  • Printing and finish: 1st Edition, Shadowless, Reverse Holo, Foil, Borderless and similar words change the value.
  • Condition: if the seller does not say, assume it could be played.
  • Language: a different language is a different product with its own price.
  • Sealed product: make sure a box is the exact product and unopened.

A price far below what the card sells for is more often a fake, a cheaper printing or a damaged copy than a gift. Check the photos and the seller's feedback.

How Bull Run does it

  1. Open Deal Finder from the banner on the Search tab, from Home, or with Find Deals on a card's page.
  2. Type a card name or number. You can also add a set, game, year range and maximum price. If the name could be more than one card, pick the right one from Which card did you mean?
  3. To search sealed product, use the Single / Pack / Box switch above Find Deals, type the set, and pick the product from the Which one? list.
  4. Tap Find Deals. Listings that are ready to judge come first, labelled Great Deal, Good Deal, Fair Price, Above Avg or Overpriced, all based on price plus shipping. Booster packs are simply listed cheapest first.
  5. Listings missing key details are folded into Show N cards with incomplete info at the bottom. Open one and check the eBay listing yourself before you buy.
  6. Tap a listing to see its deal page, with card price and shipping shown separately.

Not sure what to search? Pick one to try shows three cards with a buy rating; tap Search deals on one. Add a shipping ZIP code in Edit Profile so distance-based shipping is priced to your address.

Bull Run earns a small eBay Partner Network commission if you buy through a listing, at no extra cost to you. It never changes which deals are shown or how they are labelled.

More questions

Does Deal Finder search sold listings or listings for sale?

It searches active eBay listings, the ones you can still buy. Each one is compared with the card's market value in the app.

Why is a very cheap listing marked Check it instead of Great Deal?

A listing priced far below the card's value is treated as too good to be true. It gets no deal label, because it is usually a fake, a different printing or a damaged copy.

Does the deal label include shipping?

Yes. Every label, the profit figure and the price sort use the price plus shipping. When a seller charges by distance, the app estimates it, or uses your ZIP code if you saved one in Edit Profile.

Can I search for booster boxes and packs?

Yes. Switch to Pack or Box, type the set and pick the product. Boxes are compared with their sealed market value; packs are listed cheapest first with no deal labels.
